Structure Fire – 2226 Shelter Bay, Mill Valley, CA 94941

November 30, 2024 – At approximately 2:55 PM, Marin County Fire Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire at a multi-family residential building in Mill Valley. Residents from the area informed dispatch that the fire originated in one of the residential units.
Southern Marin Fire District personnel, along with law enforcement, responded promptly to the scene to combat the fire and initiate evacuations. Firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to additional units. Once the fire was extinguished, crews began salvage and overhaul operations to address smoke and water damage.
The fire was fully contained by 3:45 PM. Two neighboring units sustained smoke and water damage, displacing a total of five residents. The Red Cross assisted two of the displaced residents by providing temporary lodging.
This was a two-alarm fire, with a total of 15 apparatus and 35 fire personnel responding to the incident. Fortunately, no civilian or personnel injuries were reported.
A fire investigator from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The results of the investigation are pending.
