Last Friday, December 6th, marked the last Marin County Regional Truck Training of 2024. Southern Marin Fire District along side Novato Fire Protection District, Kentfield Fire District, and San Rafael Fire Department came together for a specialized truck company training drill at Station 62 in Novato. Crews used a training tower and a simulated power pole to practice rescuing an injured worker in a complex, high-angle scenario.
The Marin County Regional Truck Training program started in 2022 and continues to improve operational efficiencies, standardize special operations, and creates a positive impact on community risk reduction across the County of Marin. It also provides networking opportunities across all four participating agencies.
As 2025 approaches the program will continue to meet on a bi-monthly schedule. The drills are designed around truck company operations, which differ from engine company operations. Truck Operations include but are not limited to raising and extending ground and aerial ladders, providing additional lighting on an emergency scene, overhaul, securing gas and electrical utilities, ventilation of smoke and unburned products of combustion, forcible entry, vehicle extrication, performing rescue operations, salvage of the public's personal belongings and other special operations.
Thank you to Novato Fire Protection District, Kentfield Fire District, and San Rafael Fire Department for your collaborative effort in protecting our communities. We look forward to training with you in 2025! #TruckTuesday
