Live Fire Training Conducted at Tiburon Fire Station 10
August 15, 2025 – Tiburon, CA — The Tiburon Fire Protection District hosted two days of acquired structure live fire training on August 13 and 14, drawing participation from the Southern Marin Fire District, Marin County Fire Department, and Tiburon Fire. The training took place at Tiburon Fire Station 10, which is scheduled for demolition in preparation for a new station.
The rare opportunity to train in a real structure slated for removal allowed firefighters to sharpen their operational skills under realistic conditions. A total of 17 live burns were conducted over the two days, with a focus on:
Subject matter experts from Sacramento City Fire Department, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, CAL FIRE, and San Francisco Fire Department provided instruction and guidance, ensuring each scenario offered valuable lessons and reinforced best practices in firefighting.
“This kind of hands-on, live-fire training is invaluable,” said a Southern Marin Fire Deputy Chief of Operations Barnes. “It allows our crews to work in realistic, high-heat conditions and practice the tactics that keep our communities safe.”
The collaborative exercise underscored the strong interagency partnerships in Marin County and the broader Bay Area fire service, ensuring firefighters are well-prepared for real-world emergencies.
