Structure Fire Incident – 83 George Lane, Sausalito
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 2, 2025 – At approximately 12:24 a.m., Southern Marin Fire District units were dispatched to a working garage fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered advanced fire conditions confined to a detached garage. The fire was brought under control within thirty-three minutes of dispatch.
The fire has been contained. Thirteen apparatus and twenty-nine personnel responded. The fire was prevented from extending to the primary residence. A unit will remain on scene for fire watch until investigators can begin a cause and origin analysis. All residents and their pets were able to evacuate safely with assistance from fire department personnel.
Partnering agencies included: Marin County Fire Department, Tiburon Fire Department, Central Marin Fire Department, Sausalito Police Department, and PG&E.

- Store combustible liquids like oils, gasoline, paints, propane and varnishes in the approved, appropriate containers, preferably in a shed away from the home
- Don’t overload circuits
- Avoid clutter or debris in your garage, as it can be flammable and fuel fires
- Use electrical tools with caution
- Do not use grills or generators in the garage
