Public Notice: Draft Ordinance – First Reading

2025 California Fire Code & 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code

The Southern Marin Fire Protection District (SMFD) has released the Draft 2025 Ordinance No. 2025/2026-01, proposing the adoption and amendment of the 2025 California Fire Code (CFC) and the 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code (CWUIC). These updates are designed to enhance fire and life safety regulations, addressing the unique climatic, geographic, and topographic conditions of Southern Marin.

The first reading of the draft ordinance took place on September 24, 2025, with the next public hearing scheduled for:

The updated codes are expected to take effect January 1, 2026. The draft ordinance is available for public review, and community members are encouraged to attend the public hearing to provide feedback before final adoption.
