Are You Ready for the Up-Coming Storm Season?

As we approach storm season, the Southern Marin Fire District urges residents to plan ahead and stay prepared. Gusty winds and rain are forecasted for Wednesday, November 5, and PG&E advises all residents to take precautions to stay safe during heavy rainfall and potential power outages.

During and after the storm, remember to:
• Avoid downed power lines—always assume they are live and dangerous.
• Use flashlights instead of candles to prevent fire hazards.
• Keep a backup phone or portable charger on hand in case of power loss.

Back Up Power sources
If you're considering a installing a generator or large-capacity backup power source, you may need a building permit. Pease contact:

Storm Readiness Checklist
• Trim tree branches and vegetation at risk of falling during high winds.
• Clear leaves and debris from gutters, storm drains, and ditches.
• Prepare for flooding impacts if you live in low-lying or flood-prone areas.
• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and other loose objects that could become projectiles.

Reporting Hazards
If you encounter a downed power line, call 9-1-1 immediately, then contact PG&E at 1-800-743-5002.
