Pulling Together for a Safer Southern Marin

Post Date:03/04/2026

This season, volunteers and community partners have made strong progress removing invasive French and Scotch broom across Marin County. This work directly supports wildfire risk reduction and healthier open spaces.

On Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the community will gather in Marin City for the final broom pull of the season, focused on maintaining the Marin City Fuel Reduction Zone.

Earlier efforts created a critical buffer between open space and the neighborhood. Ongoing maintenance ensures that returning broom does not reverse that progress. Every plant removed helps preserve fuel treatments designed to slow wildfire spread and protect homes.

This effort is about more than vegetation management. It is about neighbors helping neighbors. When residents, partners, and fire agencies pull together, Southern Marin becomes a safer, stronger, and more resilient community.

Fire Safe Marin Ambassadors and Marin County Fire Department personnel will be on site sharing information about defensible space, vegetation management, and wildfire preparedness. Snacks and coffee will be provided.

Registration is open through Thursday, March 12 at 3:00 PM, or until the 50 person capacity is reached.

When we all pull together, we all move forward toward a safer Southern Marin.
