Incident Update – Dive Rescue, Sausalito Yacht Harbor

Sausalito, CA  –  On March 16, 2026, at approximately 2:38 pm, emergency crews responded to a water rescue incident near Sausalito Yacht Harbor after reports that a vehicle had entered the water with occupants inside.

Upon arrival, responders located a vehicle submerged approximately 10 feet underwater. One occupant had exited the vehicle prior to it sinking, while another remained inside. Southern Marin Fire personnel deployed dive operations and successfully recovered an individual from the vehicle and brought them to the dock where lifesaving measures were initiated.

Southern Marin units transported one patient to a local hospital, while another individual was evaluated at the scene. The vehicle was confirmed clear of occupants following the rescue. One firefighter was transported and evaluated for minor injuries. 

Multiple fire department units, marine resources, and partner agencies responded to the incident. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified, and arrangements were made for vehicle recovery and environmental notification due to the vehicle being submerged in the waterway.
