As we move into April, Southern Marin Fire District is already preparing for what is expected to be another active wildfire season. Early awareness and preparation are key to reducing risk and protecting our community.
In partnership with Fire Safe Marin and fire agencies across Marin County, residents are invited to attend the Wildfire Preparedness Public Forum on May 2. This community event will provide practical information, resources, and updates on local wildfire prevention efforts.
The forum will highlight Marin’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), a collaborative, countywide strategy focused on reducing wildfire risk, improving emergency response, and strengthening community resilience. Attendees will learn about vegetation management, home hardening, and evacuation planning, along with updates on wildfire mitigation projects.
The event will also connect residents to the annual Day of Action, a countywide effort encouraging simple, coordinated steps to reduce wildfire risk around homes and neighborhoods. From clearing defensible space to preparing emergency plans, this initiative reinforces that small actions can make a meaningful impact when taken together.
Many of these efforts are supported through local and regional funding, including Measure C, which provides dedicated resources for vegetation management, wildfire prevention programs, and public education across Marin.
Registration information will be available soon. Community members are encouraged to watch for additional details in the coming weeks and sign up to participate.
