Southern Marin is building strong momentum around wildfire preparedness as community leaders and residents come together to reduce risk and strengthen resilience across the region.
Earlier this month, Firewise leaders gathered at Southern Marin Fire Protection District Headquarters in Sausalito for a collaborative meeting focused on aligning wildfire prevention strategies ahead of the upcoming Day of Action on May 2. The discussion highlighted efforts to advance Firewise programs and the Fire Risk Reduction Community List (FRRCL), while also addressing vegetation management, regional fire break initiatives, mitigation funding opportunities, and continued improvements to evacuation planning.
That momentum carried into the weekend, as local Firewise communities hosted annual gatherings designed to engage residents and promote practical wildfire safety measures. The Bay Model hosted the Marina Vista community, while Tamalpais Community Services District welcomed Marin View residents. These events created meaningful opportunities for neighbors to connect, share information, and take proactive steps to better protect their homes and neighborhoods.
Attendees received guidance on defensible space, home hardening, and year-round preparedness, along with access to valuable resources from Fire Safe Marin and United Policyholders.
Together, these coordinated efforts reflect a strong and growing commitment to building a more fire-resilient Southern Marin.
Southern Marin Fire Protection District looks forward to connecting with more members of the community at the May 2 Wildfire Preparedness Public Forum. The same day also marks the nationwide Day of Action in support of National Fire Protection Association’s Wildfire Community Preparedness Day.
