Fire-Smart Landscaping: Check Your Irrigation This June

As temperatures rise and vegetation begins to dry out, June is an important time to check and refine your irrigation system. Healthy, hydrated plants are more difficult to ignite than dry, parched, or drought-stressed vegetation, making proper watering an important part of a fire-smart yard.

Southern Marin Fire District encourages residents to inspect irrigation lines, adjust watering schedules, check for leaks or clogged emitters, and make sure plants are receiving the right amount of water without waste. A well-maintained landscape can help reduce fire risk, support defensible space, and protect your home and neighborhood.
