Structure Fire – 269 Ricardo Avenue, Mill Valley

Sausalito, CA — On June 13, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Southern Marin Fire District crews responded to reports of a structure fire at a residence on Ricardo Avenue in Mill Valley.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved garage fire that had extended into the interior of the home and into the attic space. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack while simultaneously conducting primary searches, ventilation operations, and other critical support functions. The fire was brought under control within approximately 15 minutes.

The fire was fully contained at approximately 5:15 p.m. One resident and one pet were displaced as a result of the incident. Southern Marin Fire personnel provided the resident with a Save Card and coordinated assistance through the American Red Cross, which arranged temporary lodging.

The incident was upgraded to a first-alarm response and involved seven apparatus and 21 personnel. No injuries were reported. One engine company remained on scene following extinguishment to conduct fire watch operations and ensure there was no hidden fire extension.

Division Chief Fred Hilliard conducted the fire investigation and determined the fire originated in a residential clothes dryer.

Assisting agencies included Tiburon Fire Protection District, Marin County Fire Department, Central Marin Fire Department, Marin County Sheriff's Office, PG&E, and the American Red Cross.
