SAUSALITO, CA. — At approximately 5:20 a.m., Southern Marin Fire District crews responded to a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered active fire conditions on the third floor of a three-story downslope residence. Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack and brought the fire under control at approximately 5:33 a.m.

One occupant was removed from the residence by fire department personnel and treated at the scene by Southern Marin Fire District paramedics before being transported to a local hospital. All other residents safely evacuated the home with assistance from firefighters.

A total of seven fire apparatus and 22 personnel responded to the incident. Firefighters successfully contained the fire to its area of origin, preventing further extension into the residence.

Fire Prevention personnel remain on scene conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Southern Marin Fire District was assisted by the Marin County Fire Department, Sausalito Police Department, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
