Know your neighbors.
The most important step you can take to get through times of disaster and stress is to connect.
Everyone has something to contribute to their community before, during and after disasters. That's why Neighborhood Response Groups are supported in our region by the Southern Marin Fire Protection District, dedicated staff, and through partnerships with agencies across Marin County.
A Neighborhood Response Group can be 2 households or a group of 10-20. They could be homes on your street or a floor in your apartment building. The important thing is to make it work for you and your neighbors.
Volunteer Block Captains are the backbone of the program. You start by reaching out to neighbors, finding out what support neighbors need, and who can offer assistance or resources in a disaster.
