We appreciate your interest in the Measure U Senior Low-Income Exemption Application. Applications for 2025  is now closed. Applications were due postmarked no later than June 30, 2025.

The next application period will begin in April of 2026, the exact date TBD, and the new application will be posted on this website once the application period begins.

Future instructions for 2026: File by June 30, 2026. This application serves to request the Measure U Senior Low Income Exemption. To qualify for this exemption, you must be 65 years of age or older by July 1, 2025, own and occupy your residence located in the Southern Fire Protection District, and your combined household income is at or below the following thresholds.

The total gross household income from all sources, including social security, for the 2025 calendar year does not exceed the following: 

• For a single-person household: TBD
• For a two-person household: TBD
• For a three-person household: TBD
• For a four-person household: TBD
• For a five-person household: TBD

In order to meet the deadline to qualify for the exemption on your September 2026-2027 tax bill, you must file your request by June 30, 2026.

You must reapply each year, with the application form specific to that year, to keep the exemption in effect.

Please do not send us any documents other than the application form.  For example, please do not send copies of tax returns, bank statements, IDs, etc.
